I first came across Anthropic’s Claude in early 2024 when my friend Kevin excitedly showed me how it was shaping up to be a solid alternative to ChatGPT’s dominance in the AI chat space. At the time, they had just launched the Claude 3 model family (Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus). Back then, my only real interest in AI was getting quick and reliable answers to my most pressing questions, and in my opinion, OpenAI’s platform was and still is “king” when it comes to providing a streamlined experience for conversational AI power users.
Initial Impressions Of Claude
I decided to give it a try and after signing up for an account, one of the first things that stood out to me was the heavy use of serif fonts in Claude’s UI. It had a more traditional and editorial feel which was not necessarily bad, but my eyes preferred ChatGPT’s cleaner sans-serif look and the clean white/black background depending on mode. The minimalist and polished interface makes it easier to focus, especially during long prompting sessions. At the time, I felt a bit like a UI/UX snob (Still do), but it was deeper than just the aesthetics.

Claude’s UI in 2024
I found the Claude models to be quite verbose when I was looking for concise, structured answers. Though it had options for the type of response I needed, it still didn’t do as good of a job as ChatGPT. I wasn’t using AI for casual chats or lifestyle stuff, I needed it for business research and documentation. OpenAI had this part nailed. With the introduction of the 4o models which performed better both in benchmarks and real-life use cases, I saw little reason to switch. As much as Claude intrigued me, sticking with what was already working made the most sense.
Claude Is More Than Meets The Eye
In hindsight, Claude wasn’t really built for the ChatGPT nerds. Anthropic was doing something inspiringly different. There can only be one ChatGPT so Anthropic clearly decided to carve out its own lane. Where ChatGPT often feels clinical or sterile, Claude injected a sense of personality — more human expressiveness in the models and a quirky, unique style in the UI. Even their logo reflects this playfulness. I remember coming across a post that joked of how it looks like an entrance to the nether regions of the human body.

Jokes aside, I’ve come to appreciate that Anthropic is genuinely pushing boundaries at the frontier and bringing healthy competition to OpenAI’s dominance. What’s even cooler is how they partnered up with Rick Rubin to create a web experience/book on “Vibe Coding” which i define to be the ultimate intersection of creativity and coding.
Now it’s August 2025, and the rift between Claude and ChatGPT feels wider than ever. I do my best to stay current with weekly releases across the AI landscape, but lately, I’ve been hit hard with FOMO. I haven’t yet explored Claude’s Artefacts, played around with Claude Code, or tapped into the much-hyped MCP servers!
Worth Your $$$?
One thing I didn’t want to do was throw more money at yet another AI tool but, I have to face the reality: I am starting to lag behind as Claude has emerged as more than just a ChatGPT alternative in the past year. For someone building a business that prides itself on delivering practical, validated AI solutions to new founders and SMBs, that’s not really on the cards. That’s the mission with Vemoyo. It’s imperative that I invest time and effort into R&D, building, testing, and consistently evolving solutions for my current and future clients.
MCPs, in particular, are a game-changer that i am yet to explore in the world of AI automation and tool calling in chats. It’s become clear that skipping Claude entirely would mean missing out on an important layer of innovation as OpenAI has been slow to introduce full MCP support to plans lower than ChatGPT Pro and Team accounts.
MCPs Are Revolutionising How We Automate Everyday Tasks
These powerful tools let you create workflows that handle mundane jobs without constant supervision. Think about automatically drafting and sending personalised emails, managing your calendar by scheduling meetings based on availability, or generating consistent content for blogs and social media. What makes MCPs special is how they seamlessly connect different steps and tools together without needing au automation platform like Make, Zapier & N8N. They can pull data from one source, process it intelligently, and then use the results to take action elsewhere. For small business owners, this means spending less time on repetitive admin work and more time on strategic growth without being an automation expert.
So I Finally Bit The Bullet
Claude is now installed on my MacBook, and I’ll be spending some time getting familiar with the platform. I switched the font to system default Serif (of course), and I’ve got to admit, Anthropic has done a great job improving the UI and UX. It’s miles ahead of what I remember it being. In fact, after spending almost 2 years in ChatGPT, Claude now feels like a much needed breath of fresh air.
Let’s see where this takes me. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be back here to share my Claude & MCP experience with you!
Update On My Early Mornings
In my last blog post, i detailed how i have been aiming to start my days earlier and i have had mixed results. I have not been able to wake up early consistently because i got ill and caught a cold last week. On the other hand, i have noticed that when i did chose to wake up very early, i did not feel the usual resistance stemming up from my inner fibres. To me, that’s a small yet great feeling but most importantly, A Way To Grow 🪷.
